Globe
A Velocity proxy fork that adds optional seamless server switches for 1.20.2 and newer clients.
What Globe is
Globe is a fork of the Velocity proxy. You run it as your proxy, in place of the Velocity jar. It uses Velocity's velocity.toml, plugins/ folder, commands and permissions, and keeps Velocity's plugin API unchanged.
Globe is a standalone product. It starts through the Standalone Aegis loader. See Installation.
Globe does not rename itself. The console and the /velocity command still say Velocity.
What Globe changes
- Seamless server switches. An option that moves 1.20.2 and newer players between backend servers without the configuration screen, and keeps their world loaded when both servers put them in the same dimension. Off by default. See Seamless server switches.
- Packets during a switch. While a player is being moved to another server, Globe holds the packets their client sends, up to 512, and passes them to the new server once it is ready.
- Command suggestions on 1.21.9 and newer. Globe passes the backend's command list to these clients unchanged, so backend commands autocomplete.
Requirements
| Requirement | Value |
|---|---|
| Client versions | 1.7.2 to 26.2, as in Velocity. Seamless switches need 1.20.2 or newer. |
| Java | 21 or newer |
| Loader | The Standalone Aegis loader |
| Network | Outbound internet access. On first start Globe downloads its libraries. |
Commands and permissions
Globe adds no commands or permissions. Velocity's own commands work as usual:
| Command | Permission |
|---|---|
/server | velocity. |
/glist | velocity. |
/send | velocity. |
/velocity info | velocity. |
/velocity plugins | velocity. |
/velocity reload | velocity. |
/velocity dump | velocity. |
/velocity heap | velocity. |
/shutdown | Console only |
For everything else about running the proxy, Velocity's own documentation applies.
