Station

Station turns a Paper server into your network hub, with a game selector, lobby switcher, visibility toggle, party queues and portals.

What Station does

Station is a hub plugin for Paper. Run it on every hub (lobby) server of your network. Players get:

  • a hotbar with a game selector, a profile item, a player visibility toggle and a lobby switcher
  • a game selector you build in game, with live player counts
  • queues for server groups that keep parties together
  • water portals that send players to a server group
  • a sidebar, a join message, /spawn and flight for players with permission

Lobby protection comes from Scaffold, which Station runs on. On a hub, players can't break or place blocks, take damage, get hungry or drop items. Time and weather are frozen, mobs are removed, and players who fall into the void are sent back to spawn.

Requirements

RequirementWhy
Paper 1.21.11Station uses Paper-only APIs.
Java 25Scaffold, which Station needs, won't load on older Java versions.
KernelCommands, menus, config files and the sidebar.
BridgeServer list, player counts, ranks, player settings and sending players between servers.
Stash, with MongoDB and RedisStores the selector, spawn, portals and queues, and shares them between hubs.
ScaffoldLobby protection, the hotbar, portals, build mode and parties.

Bridge connects each server to the Catalyst backend, set with catalystHost and catalystKey in Bridge's bridge.yml. Station gets its server list and player counts through that connection, so the selector, lobby switcher, portals and queues show nothing until Bridge is connected.

All of these products run through the Aegis loader, and each one must be on your licence. See Installation for how to set up the loader.

How hubs share settings

Station keeps one shared copy of its in-game settings in your network database:

  • the game selector
  • the hub world name and spawn point
  • the join message
  • the lobby group and its display name
  • the portals

When you change one of these on any hub, every other hub reloads it. Build every hub from the same map, with the same world name, so the spawn and portals line up.

The files in plugins/Station/ (settings.yml, messages.yml and menus.yml) are per server. Copy them to each hub if you change them.
