Mirror
Cross-region 1v1 Duels matches where each player stays on a game server in their own region and fights a live copy of the opponent.
What Mirror does
Mirror lets two Duels players from different regions fight without one of them crossing the world.
When matchmaking pairs two 1v1 players whose lobbies are in different regions, each player is sent to a game server in their own region. Both servers build the same arena. On each server the opponent appears as a fake player with their name and skin, driven by the other server. The two game servers talk directly over TCP.
What is synced
| Synced | How |
|---|---|
| Position, look and movement | Every tick, with velocity, sprinting, sneaking, blocking and on-ground state. |
| Health and absorption | Every tick. |
| Held item and armour | When they change. |
| Melee hits and arm swings | As they happen. |
| Deaths and leaving | End the match on both servers. |
Arrows and other projectiles, placed blocks, dropped items and potion effects are not synced in the current release. Mirror suits melee kits best.
When Mirror is used
- Only 1v1 matches made by the Duels queues.
- Only when the two players are on servers in different regions.
- Only when each of those regions has a Duels game server. Otherwise the match is played normally on one server.
Team queues are never mirrored. Duel requests, party games and bot fights start from the lobby and are not mirrored either, as long as Mirror stays off on your lobbies. See Setup.
