Installation
Install Saturn with the Standalone Aegis loader, move an existing Paper 1.21.11 server over, and find the files Saturn creates.
Before you start
- Back up your worlds, plugins and current server jar.
- Use Java 21 or newer.
- Allow outbound internet access. On first start Saturn downloads the vanilla Minecraft 1.21.11 server from Mojang and its libraries, then keeps them in the loader's
.aegisfolder for later starts.
Saturn is delivered through your personal Aegis loader. Getting started explains the loader, and Installation covers downloading it.
Install
Download the Standalone loader
Download the Standalone loader from the Downloads page of your dashboard. The file is always named Aegis.jar. Put it in the server's folder, where your worlds and server. are or will be.
Run the loader once
Start it from the server's folder. The first run creates aegis.yml next to the jar.
java -Xms4G -Xmx4G -jar Aegis.jar --noguiPut JVM options such as -Xmx before -jar. Anything after Aegis.jar is passed to the server, the same as arguments to a Paper jar.
Choose Saturn
Set the product in aegis.yml:
product: Saturn
version: latest
channel: stable
debug: falseStart again
Run the same command. The loader starts Saturn, which starts like Paper. On a new server, accept the EULA in eula.txt as you would on Paper, then start once more.
Moving from Paper
Saturn reads the same server files as Paper 1.21.11. To move an existing server:
- Stop the server and take a backup.
- Put
Aegis.jarin the server's folder and follow the steps above. - Start the loader instead of your Paper jar. Keep your worlds,
plugins/and Paper config files where they are.
Files Saturn creates
| Path | Created | Purpose |
|---|---|---|
saturn.yml | Early in startup, if missing | All of Saturn's settings. See Configuration. |
saturn-world-defaults. | Early in startup, if missing | A template for per-world blocks. Saturn never reads it. |
saturn/knockback/ | When you save a knockback profile | Saved knockback profiles. See Knockback profiles. |
All three live in the server's folder.
