Configuration

Sentry's sentry.yml settings for cooldowns, report expiry, freeze time and log retention, plus its messages.yml and menus.yml files.

Files

Sentry keeps three files in plugins/Sentry/ on each Paper server:

FileWhat it holds
sentry.ymlCooldowns, timers and limits.
messages.ymlEvery chat line Sentry sends, the staff chat formats and the mod mode sidebar.
menus.ymlTitles and items of every Sentry menu, and the mod mode hotbar items.

Each file is written with its defaults and a description above every setting on first start. Saving a file reloads it; you don't need to restart. Delete a line to get its default back.

The files are per server. Copy them to every Paper server if you want the same settings everywhere.

sentry.yml

KeyDefaultWhat it does
reportCooldown90Seconds a player waits between reports. /helpop has its own cooldown of the same length.
reportExpiry5Minutes a report stays in /reports. Only applies to reports made after the change.
freezeTime5Minutes a frozen player has before staff are told their time is up.
allowedFrozenCommandsmsg, m, pm, w, tell, whisper, message, r, reply, respond, helpop, request, reportCommands a frozen player may still use, without the slash. Every other command is blocked.
frozenLogoutCommand/ban {player} 30d Logged out whilst frozenCommand a staff member runs by clicking the alert for a player who logged out while frozen. {player} is the player's name.
pushStrength1.5How hard the mod mode compass pushes you forward.
cerberusLogRetention30Days anticheat logs are kept before they are deleted. Applies to logs made after the change.
exemptGroupsstasisServer groups whose players are exempted from Polar checks when they join.

exemptGroups matches the first group in Kernel's group setting for the server.

For example, to let frozen players use /discord as well:

plugins/Sentry/sentry.yml
allowedFrozenCommands:
  - msg
  - r
  - helpop
  - discord

messages.yml

Every message lists the placeholders it gets, such as {player} or {server}, in the file itself.

  • Colours: & codes, hex like &#FFAA00, and MiniMessage tags such as <gradient:red:blue> all work.
  • <primary> and <secondary> use the server colours from Kernel.
  • <newline> starts a new chat line. <click:...> and <hover:...> make text clickable.
  • The staff and admin channel names (chat.staffName and chat.adminName) only change after a restart.

Each menu has a title, its items and customItems for anything you want to add. An item has a material, a name, a slot, glow and lore. The file explains the format at the top.

The hotbar section sets the three mod mode items. The report section sets the eight report categories. The name of each category, without colours, is what staff see in alerts and in /reports.
