Mod mode and vanish
How Sentry's mod mode, vanish powers, auto-vanish, staff visibility toggles, the online staff list and /find work.
Mod mode
/staffmode (also /staff, /sm, /modmode, /mod, /mm, /h) toggles mod mode. It needs sentry..
When you enter mod mode, Sentry saves your inventory, armour, game mode and flight, then clears your inventory and gives you three items:
| Item | Hotbar position | Right-click to |
|---|---|---|
| Inspect book | First | Open the inventory of the player you click: their 36 slots, armour, health, hunger and game mode. |
| Push compass | Second | Launch yourself the way you are looking. The strength is pushStrength in sentry.yml. |
| Staff list | Last | Open the online staff menu. |
While in mod mode you can't break or place blocks, hit entities, pick up or drop items, or move items in your own inventory. A Mod Mode sidebar shows your rank, chat channel, ping, vanish state, whether you see other staff, the server's TPS, its player count and your network domain.
Run /staffmode again to get your saved inventory, armour, game mode and flight back. Logging out or switching servers also ends mod mode and restores them.
Staff with sentry. on the same server see a short notice when someone enters or leaves mod mode, or vanishes and unvanishes.
Vanish
/vanish (also /v, /tv, /togglevanish) toggles vanish. It needs sentry..
/vanish
/vanish <power>
/vanish <power> <player>Every vanish has a power. With no power given, it is your rank weight. You can't pick a power above your own rank weight unless you are a server operator. Vanishing another player needs sentry., and the power is checked against their rank weight.
While vanished:
- Players don't see you in the world or in the tab list.
- Staff can see you only if they have
sentry.staff, have vanished players shown, and their rank weight is at least your vanish power. - Mobs and experience orbs don't target you.
- You can't break or place blocks, hit entities, or pick up or drop items.
Vanish lasts until you run /vanish again or leave the server. It does not follow you to another server.
Auto-vanish
/toggleautovanish (also /tav, /autovanish) vanishes you each time you join a server, with your rank weight as the power. It needs sentry., and auto-vanish only happens if you also have sentry.staff. It is off by default.
Visibility toggles
These need sentry.staff. Each one is saved to your profile, so it follows you to every server.
| Command | Aliases | Default | What it changes |
|---|---|---|---|
/togglestaffvisibility | /tsv, /staffvisibility, /showstaff, /hidestaff | On | Whether you see other staff members in the world. |
/togglevanishvisibility | /tvv, /vanishedvisibility, /showvanished, /hidevanished | On | Whether you see vanished players your rank can see. |
Online staff
/onlinestaff (also /os, /stafflist) opens a menu of everyone with sentry.staff on your current server, highest rank first. Each head shows the rank and whether that person is vanished or in mod mode. It needs sentry.staff.
The list covers the current server only.
Find a player
/find <player> needs sentry.staff. If the player is online, it shows their server with a Jump button. If they are offline, it shows when they were last seen and on which server.
